Where you and I find ourselves at this moment is a unique place, and that includes far more than what a GPS device could identify. We also find ourselves in a unique place when it comes to our circumstances and inner state of being. We could wish we were at a different “place” in our lives in one way or another but the reality is that there’s no other place we find ourselves so this is the place!

It’s not that we have to stay stuck where we are, but we’re not going to get to a better place other than by taking a step from where we now are. We can reminisce about how good something was in the past or dream about how good things might be in the future but it’s the here and now that needs to be lived. Embrace the moment is what we’re called to do!

A vacation of sightseeing will not be very enjoyable if we spend all of our time reviewing our digital pictures of where we’ve been or looking at a map to see where we’re going. Our main objective should be to enjoy the scenery of where we are!

I want to learn what the apostle Paul learned. He said, “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” (Philippians 4:12) God can’t use us where we were or where we’ll be, but only where we are. So, wherever we are, let’s be all there!
