Grasping God’s Grace

You’re driving along, minding your own business, when suddenly flashing red and blue lights appear in your rear view mirror! A cop is pulling you over! You roll down your window as the officer saunters up, stoops down to get a look at you, and informs you how you broke the law. Have you ever been extended grace by a police officer? I have; he just gave me a warning and let me go on my way. I felt great! Grace feels great!
It’s great to be shown grace by the powers that be. So what’s it like to receive grace from the greatest power that be, God? It feels great!
God is in the grace-dispensing business! He wants to extend us His grace in the face of all that’s wrong with us. We just have to want Him to apply His grace to us.
This action of turning to God and His grace is called repentance in the Bible. I like how J. I. Packer explained repentance: “Repentance is turning from all that you know of sin, with all that you know of yourself, to all that you know of God.”
God is a God of grace; He’s full of grace. When we grasp His grace we feel great!
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
