Conscious of Everything Around Us, and of God Too!

The computational power of computers continues to increase at a dramatic rate. It’s doubtful, though, that any computer will become so great at its computations that it will become conscious. Consciousness, it seems to me, can’t come from zeros and ones, the binary code computers use. How can consciousness come from computer code?
In my science fiction novel Moon’s Mercy I solved the problem of my robots, called Dolphdroids, being conscious creatures this way (and I quote from the back cover copy): ”Possessing thought processors that are a hybrid of state-of-the-art processing chips and brains harvested from critically injured dolphins, the Dolphdroids possess a level of artificial intelligence never before achieved.” My robots got their consciousness from their dolphin brains.
To me, the existence of consciousness is one of the strongest proofs for the existence of God. Atheistic scientists, who believe in evolution as the source and developer of life, are divided over whether being conscious is a benefit for the survival of the fittest. After all, plants get along fine without it. There’s no clear reason why an evolutionary process would have produced consciousness; there’s no explanation of how consciousness evolved.
God has given consciousness to many of His creatures, but we humans are the most conscious. We can be self-conscious and we can be conscious of the God who created us.
Consciousness is an amazing gift from God that gives us humans the ability to consciously choose to relate to our Creator, to love Him. We were created to be in a relationship with Him, delighting in Him, feeling His love for us, and loving Him back! I want to be conscious of this every single day; you too?
“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.” (Psalm 111:2)
